Future Development

Rapid Valley is on the cutting edge of water treatment.  Our biggest development to date is our state of the art Pall Micro filtration Plant.  Manager Jim Jester and staff worked tirelessly researching the various technologies available for water treatment.  Construction was completed in the fall of 2007 and the new water treatment plant went on-line in December 2007.

Efficiency is the Key!
In 2004, it was decided we need to embrace the newest technology designed to save time and manpower.  The solution?  Sensus meters with a radio read unit.  When we began utilizing the new radio read units we were focusing only on new construction.  Since then we have expanded our focus to include retrofitting approximately 400 old meters a year.  We will continue retrofitting meters until all old meters have been replaced.  Once this project is completed, we will be able to simply drive down the street to obtain meter readings.

Additional Storage
Plans are being made to construct a 2 ½ million gallon concrete tank in the future.  Increased housing development have created a need for additional water storage.  The new tank will be located off of Reservoir Road.  Water and sewer mains along Reservoir Rd.  will be upgraded in conjunction with the Pennington County reconstruction of the road during 2008 & 2009.
